Implant treatment is not a single appointment; it is a sequence with a long gap in the middle. Understanding that sequence is the difference between planning your trips properly and being surprised by a second flight you did not budget for.
Stage 1 — Remote consultation
You send photographs and, ideally, a recent panoramic X-ray. The clinic reviews them and returns a provisional plan: how many implants, whether grafting is likely, and an estimated cost.
This stage is free at most clinics and commits you to nothing. Treat it as a comparison exercise — send the same images to several clinics and compare not just the prices but the reasoning behind each plan. Plans that differ wildly are worth asking about.
Stage 2 — Examination on arrival
A 3D CT scan is taken to measure bone height and density. This is where the provisional plan becomes a real one, and occasionally where it changes — bone loss that a flat X-ray hides shows up clearly in three dimensions.
If a graft is needed, the cost and the added healing time should be explained and agreed before any surgery begins. You are allowed to pause here.
Stage 3 — Implant placement
The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic; sedation is usually available if you want it. Most patients report the procedure itself as easier than expected, with discomfort in the following two to three days managed by ordinary painkillers.
A temporary crown or bridge is often fitted so you are not left with a visible gap. Typical first visit: three to five days in Turkey.
Stage 4 — Osseointegration (the long wait, at home)
The implant fuses with the bone over roughly three to six months. This happens at home, in your own country, at no cost — but it cannot be rushed, and this is the stage that some clinics are vague about when quoting a fast timeline.
Your clinic should stay contactable throughout and may ask for a check-up X-ray from a local dentist partway through.

Stage 5 — Fitting the permanent crown
You return for a second visit, usually three to five days. The abutment and permanent crown are fitted and colour-matched to your natural teeth.
Budget for two trips in total. A clinic promising the whole thing in a single week is either using a different protocol — which they should explain to you in detail — or overpromising.
What to budget beyond the treatment
Two return flights, accommodation for both visits, and any additional procedures identified after the CT scan. Some clinics include hotel and transfers; confirm exactly which nights are covered, because 'accommodation included' sometimes means the first visit only.
